When I joined, Dojo only took payments in person. I built the products that let merchants get paid when the customer isn't there: payment links, virtual terminal, checkout and SDKs.

Merchants needed a way to get paid without the customer at the till.
Lots of them were taking card details over the phone and typing them into the card machine, which was slow, risky for fraud and frustrating for their customers.
We started with payment links, as they were the most popular option in the market and let merchants take payments over the phone without customers reading out their card details. We built them into the app and also offered them through our API for partners.
Taking real money a new way is a big deal for a merchant, so we added things like unpaid link alerts and branded receipts to make it feel safe.
We launched in four markets, so we kept checkouts simple and only added new payment methods when there was a real need.
Remote payments became a whole new line of business for Dojo, used by some of the biggest hospitality groups in the UK. The team won Team of the Year and a Creator Award, and it became the foundation for the hospitality products Dojo built next.
